Happy Friday once again!
This week the husband and I have been on vacation. As I mentioned last week, we planned on making this one a stay-cation, so I don’t have that many photos to show. This past week has been incredible as far as weather goes and almost every day has been absolutely crystal clear, blue skies. Amazing!
We managed to get several things done around the house we have been planning to do for awhile, but the main purpose of this week’s stay-at-home vacation involved a very special reason.
Everyone, meet Jasper, the French Bulldog!
He is about 5 months old and is a full-blooded, AKC registered French Bulldog. The husband and I have been thinking about adding an additional member to our family for a long time. However, the last home we were in just didn’t have enough space to make it a comfortable transition.
Since moving into a larger home, we began to give a new puppy more thought. And then, the right opportunity presented itself in the last couple of weeks. The same family we got Chester from when he was small, was now also breeding and raising French Bulldogs. It just so happened they had an older puppy left from the previous litter in which the family that was going to take him decided not to in the end. Because the puppy was a bit older, they were having a difficult time finding him a home.
Chester was also the last one to be chosen out of his litter, so we thought that it only made sense for us to take a chance on this little guy. Although I have to admit, I seem to have forgotten just HOW MUCH work it is to housebreak, train and supervise a young puppy. So much energy! This is the reason we decided to take this week to acclimate him to his new home, as well as try to develop some sort of routine when it comes to playing, potty-breaks and naptime. We are loving him so much, though, and are making sure to spoil him at every chance possible!
The most difficult part of this has been trying to get Chester to accept the new puppy. He really doesn’t know what to think, right now, and we’re trying to make sure and give him lots of extra love and attention so he doesn’t think he’s been replaced. After a few days together, he is slowly coming around and is beginning to sit closer to Jasper and get nearer to him in the room. Most importantly, we’re trying to make sure we don’t make Chester feel left out and neglected.
In other news, as I mentioned previously, this week has been absolutely beautiful and I took advantage of the weather with a couple of runs outside this week.
We also worked hard to get several things done around the house this week, including finally getting our front porch Fall-ready.
I know it’s short and sweet, but that’s all I got! Have a great weekend!
